Art and Design
Art & Design
Art, craft and design embody some of the highest forms of human creativity. At Oxclose Primary, we aim to provide high quality teaching of Art and Design which engages, inspires and challenges the children. In this subject, the children produce creative work while exploring their ideas and recording their experiences. They work to improve their skills in drawing, painting, textiles and sculpture making.
Through exploration of history topics in school, the children also evaluate, compare and produce their own versions of the creative work of well-known artists or techniques used from a specific period in time. They also learn about how certain art forms have changed and developed over time. There are opportunities to create art work linked to geography and science topics across the year. In addition to this, each year all children, across the school, have the opportunity to learn, in-depth, about a specific artist during our artist study week.
During their time at Oxclose Primary Academy, the children develop and improve their skills in a range of Art and Design techniques. They also have the opportunity to explore and experiment with the use of colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, form and space.
