First Lego League
On Thursday 12th December, 8 Year 6 children went to the First Lego Lego (FLL) Competition, held at Nissan. During Autumn Term, these children have attended Lego Club after school twice a week, where they have learnt to program an EV3 robot and worked together, celebrating the FLL Core Values of teamwork and resilience.
When we arrived at Nissan, none of the missions the children had programed were completely accurate and in the first round of the Robot game the children managed to score 40 points. After a few pointers from the judges, the children reprogramed their robot and in the next rounds increased their scores to 165 and 175 points – what a superb achievement!
Throughout the day the children were praised on their teamwork and how they presented themselves and feedback on their Innovation Project presentation (where they had decided to develop a piece of waste land near the Nissan factory into a hotel and Theme Park called ‘Nissan Land’) was that the judges had been very impressed and they came a very close 2nd place.
It was an amazing day, where the children continued to learn the whole time. Mrs Norton and Miss Dawe were super proud of every single one of them. Well done Oxclose Owls!
