National Poetry Day
To celebrate National Poetry Day the whole school focused on poetry for a week. Each class had their own focus and some of us used well-known poetry as inspiration. We learned about the features of poetry and how we can use language to create our own. Reception explored traditional nursery rhymes and created some great art work, Year 1 learned about how animals moved and described movements and sounds and Year 2 used their senses and observed the changes of Autumn. Year 3 practised their best performance skills and rapped their way through poetry while Year 4 used their imagination to add things into their very own Magic Box. Year 5 were inspired by The Highwayman and Year 6 wrote their own versions of The Raven. We all came together at the end of the week and performed our own poems to the school – it was a great week!
