Hi, I’m Lucy Robson and I joined Oxclose Primary Academy in September 2015. I’ve spent time teaching in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 and I’m now delighted to be the Year 2 teacher! When I’m not at school I enjoy baking cakes, going to the theatre and taking my dog Alfie for long walks.
Welcome To Year 2
A warm welcome to Year 2! We are a hardworking, enthusiastic and friendly group that want to succeed in our learning!
Meet the Year Group Teachers, Miss Robson…
Meet the Year Group Teaching Assistant, Mrs Humphrey…
Hello, I’m Leanne Humphrey. I have been working at Oxclose for the past 12 years! Throughout my time with the school, I have worked in all year groups and have enjoyed them all. I am very experienced in Year 2.
World Book Day
We had a great time on World Book Day! We all came to school dressed as a character from our favourite book. Year 2 read with Reception buddies and had story time with Mrs Butler. We all enjoyed the performance of Wolf On Trial – we thought Mr Wolf was innocent!
Using Numicon in Maths
We enjoyed using Numicon to help us count. We weren’t allowed to look in the bag so we had to feel around to find the twos. Once we found all of the twos we made equal groups and wrote number sentences.
Year 2 were invited to visit Washington Library. We had a great time exploring new books, reading with friends and listening to a story from Elaine. We learned all about the Library and had a good look around – we can’t wait to go back!
Fun In The Snow
Dips and Dippers
Germs and Glitter
Year 2 had a great time during Science Week. We took part in investigations, flew rockets and even create our own Space Station!
World Book Day
Y2 had an amazing World Book Day this year! We dressed up as a character from our favourite book and brought the book in to read and show. We looked at Julia Donaldson books and voted for our favourite – we made graphs and could see our favourite was The Smartest Giant in Town. We also designed a front cover for a book and coloured it in.
In PSHE we have been looking at the topic – Money Matters. We did a hot seating activity of the rich and famous and asked the question, Does money make us happy?
That History Bloke
That History bloke visited year 2 at school to talk about ‘The Great Fire of Gateshead’. The children really enjoyed acting, listening to historic stories and dressing up.
We had a follow up trip the week after to The Quayside, Betty Surtees House and St Mary’s Church.
Roald Dahl 100 Day
We really enjoyed Roald Dahl 100 Day in year 2. It was great to see everyone dressed as some of the much loved characters from Roald Dahl’s stories. We had fun following instructions to make Mr Twit’s hairy scary beard cakes. We also designed our own scrumdiddlyumptious chocolate bars.
